Anne of Green Gables — scene 1

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Anne Shirley. She had the most beautiful red hair you have ever seen, bright as autumn leaves and curly as ocean waves. Anne sat on a wooden bench at the train station on Prince Edward Island, holding her small brown suitcase close to her heart. She wore her best dress, though it was a bit too small, and her green eyes sparkled with hope. Anne was an orphan, which means she did not have a mama or papa, but she had the biggest imagination in the whole world. As she waited, she looked around at everything with wonder. The seagulls flying overhead were like dancing angels to her. The sound of the ocean nearby was like a lullaby. Anne dreamed about the family who was coming to get her. Maybe they would love her red hair. Maybe they would love her stories. Maybe, just maybe, they would love her just the way she was.
