The Corn Maiden
Ages 4–5 9 min
Once upon a time, in a beautiful Native American village, the people were very worried. The winter had been long and cold, and now their food was almost gone. Young Brave looked around at his village and saw the empty cooking pots and the sad faces of his people. His heart felt heavy like a stone. He loved his village so much, and he wanted to help everyone feel happy and full again. Young Brave was strong and brave, with dark hair in neat braids and kind brown eyes. He wore clothes made of soft leather in earth colors. Looking at his hungry people, Young Brave made a promise to himself: he would find food for everyone, no matter how far he had to travel or how hard he had to search.
