The Dancing Lights of the Ancestors — scene 1

Once upon a time, in a beautiful Arctic village where the Inuit people lived, summer was coming to an end. The children played outside in the warm sunshine, laughing and running through the village. They loved the bright, golden sun that stayed in the sky for so many hours. But slowly, day by day, the sun began to set a little earlier. The children noticed the light growing softer and the air getting cooler. They watched as the last flowers of summer closed their petals, and the birds began to fly south to warmer places. The children felt a little sad as they realized their favorite season was ending. They gathered together, looking up at the sky where the sun was setting earlier each day. Summer was saying goodbye, and soon the long, dark winter would begin.
