The Elephant Child — scene 1

Once upon a time, in the warm African savanna where the grass grew tall and golden, there lived a very special little elephant. This little elephant was different from all the other elephants because he loved to ask questions about everything! His name was Elephant Child, and he had the most curious mind you could imagine. One sunny morning, as his family gathered under the shade of a big acacia tree, Elephant Child tilted his little gray head and asked the question that would change his life forever. Dear family, he said in his sweet, small voice, what does the crocodile eat for dinner? His bright dark eyes sparkled with wonder as he waited for an answer. The question hung in the warm air like the sweet scent of flowers, and all the grown-up elephants looked at each other with knowing smiles.
