The Hummingbird Gift

Once upon a time, in a beautiful Central American jungle, something terrible began to happen. Deep in the heart of the tropical forest, where colorful birds sang and monkeys played in the tall trees, a small spark grew into dancing orange flames. The fire crackled and popped as it spread from tree to tree, sending up clouds of gray smoke that rose high into the blue sky. The sweet smell of flowers was replaced by the sharp scent of burning leaves. What had started as just a tiny flame was growing bigger and bigger, reaching out with hungry fingers to touch more and more of the green forest. The jungle, which had been so peaceful and full of life just moments before, was now in great danger.
