The Little Princess — scene 1

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Sara Crewe who arrived at a big, important school in London. Sara had beautiful dark hair that shone like silk, and she wore the finest clothes money could buy. Her father loved her very much and wanted her to have the best education. As Sara stepped out of the fancy carriage, she looked up at Miss Minchin's School for Young Ladies. The building was tall and grand, with many windows that seemed to watch her. Sara felt a little nervous, but she held her head high like the little princess her father always said she was. The other girls peeked from behind curtains to see the new student who had arrived in such style. Sara's trunk was filled with beautiful dresses, warm coats, and her most precious possession - her doll Emily, who had real hair and eyes that opened and closed. Even though Sara felt sad to leave her papa, she was ready to begin her new adventure at school.
