Lucas bounced excitedly in the clinic waiting room, his dark brown eyes sparkling with curiosity. "I can"t wait to tell Dr. Kim about my rock collection!" he whispered to his mother Catalina. Across the room, Ella adjusted her round glasses and checked her field journal. "Our appointment should be soon," she said to herself, but when Nurse Kim appeared with her clipboard, she looked puzzled. "Oh my! It seems your appointment times got mixed up," she said with a gentle smile. "You"ll both need to wait a little longer." Lucas"s shoulders drooped, and Ella"s excited expression faded into disappointment.
