The Stonecutter — scene 1

Once upon a time, high up on a beautiful Japanese mountain, there lived a humble stonecutter. Every morning when the sun painted the sky pink and gold, he would take his simple tools and walk to the mountainside. Tap, tap, tap went his chisel against the stone. Chip, chip, chip went the pieces falling to the ground. The stonecutter had strong, weathered hands and kind brown eyes that sparkled with quiet wisdom. He wore simple work clothes that were dusty from the stone, and his gray hair showed all the years he had spent working on the mountain. He loved his work, cutting beautiful stones that would become parts of houses and temples. The mountain was peaceful, with birds singing in the trees and gentle breezes carrying the scent of cherry blossoms. The stonecutter felt grateful for his simple life, working with his hands under the wide blue sky.
