The Thunderbird and the Whale — scene 1

Once upon a time, long ago, there lived a peaceful people by the great Pacific Ocean. These were the coastal people, and they loved their home by the sea. Every morning, the sun would rise over the water like a golden ball, and the people would wake up happy and safe. The children would play on the sandy beaches, building castles and collecting pretty shells. The grown-ups would take their boats out to catch fish for dinner. The ocean was their friend, giving them food and bringing them joy. The waves would dance and sparkle in the sunlight, and seabirds would call out cheerful songs. Everyone lived together in harmony, sharing their meals and telling stories around warm fires at night. It was a wonderful place to live, where everyone felt loved and protected.
