The Tortoise and the Hare

Once upon a time, in the beautiful hills of ancient Greece, there lived a speedy hare and a slow tortoise. The hare had long, strong legs that could carry him faster than the wind. The tortoise had a heavy shell and moved very, very slowly. One sunny morning, the hare was hopping along the hillside path when he saw the tortoise slowly making his way up the hill. The hare stopped and began to laugh. Oh my, Tortoise! he said with a big grin. You are so slow! Look at me - I can run circles around you! The hare hopped in circles around the poor tortoise, showing off his speed. The tortoise just kept walking steadily, one step at a time, not saying a word. But inside, he felt sad that the hare was being so mean.
