The Weaving Spider
Ages 6–7 9 min
Once upon a time, in a warm Navajo home nestled among the red rocks and sage, there lived a child who wanted more than anything to learn the sacred art of weaving. Every morning, the child would sit before the wooden loom that had been passed down through generations, watching the way sunlight danced across the colorful threads. But oh, how difficult it was! The child would carefully pick up the shuttle, trying to remember all the teachings about how to move it through the warp threads. But somehow, the threads always seemed to have a mind of their own. They would twist and tangle, refusing to lie flat and neat like they should. The child would try again and again, fingers growing tired and eyes beginning to water with frustration.
