The Wind in the Willows: A Tale of Friendship — scene 1

Once upon a time, deep underground in a cozy burrow, lived a little mole named Mole. It was spring cleaning time, and Mole had been scrubbing and dusting all morning long. His tiny paws were tired, and his whiskers were covered in dust. "Oh, bother!" said Mole, throwing down his cleaning brush. "I am so tired of cleaning and cleaning and cleaning!" He looked around his neat little home with its tiny chairs and tables, but somehow it felt too small today. The spring air was calling to him from somewhere far above. Mole felt restless in his heart, like something wonderful was waiting for him. He had never been above ground before, but today felt different. Today felt like a day for adventures. "There must be more to life than just cleaning," Mole whispered to himself, gazing up at his ceiling and wondering what lay beyond.
