Tom Sawyer Great Adventures — scene 1

Once upon a time, in a little town by the big Mississippi River, there lived a boy named Tom Sawyer. Tom had twinkling eyes and a smile that meant he was always thinking of something fun to do. But sometimes, Tom got into trouble! One sunny morning, Tom came home with mud on his clothes and leaves in his hair. His Aunt Polly, who loved him very much, was waiting for him with her hands on her hips. She had kind eyes but a stern voice when Tom was naughty. Tom, she said, where have you been? You were supposed to help me with chores, not go climbing trees and getting all messy! Tom shuffled his feet and looked down. He knew Aunt Polly was right, but adventures were just so much more fun than chores. Aunt Polly shook her head, but Tom could see the love in her eyes even when she was upset with him.
